As we are moving into the fall and I notice that our hours of daylight are getting shorter, I find myself making one of my favorite drinks, Liquid Sunshine. I heard about this recipe from our local chiropractor office. I headed home, made it, and I was hooked. Now it is winter staple, and if I don’t have all the the ingredients, I still make whatever part of it I can. This can be served warm or cold so pick your preference and enjoy.
Add the following to a large jar:
2 inches of ginger root sliced, 2 inches of turmeric root sliced, the juice of one lemon, the juice of one orange, the juice of one lime, a shake of salt, and a tablespoon of honey (which is optional and can be taken out if you prefer for it to be less sweet.)
Top the jar off with boiling water. Let stand on your counter to cool and then store in your fridge. Strain and serve whenever you are ready for your cup of sunshine. I love this chilled after exercise and I love this heated like a cup of tea when I am looking to warm up or feel cozy. It gets more flavorful over time. I normally finish it within a couple of days of brewing.
