Being that my husband grew up in the remote woods camping and fishing and that I spent large amounts of time hiking in the backwoods and skiing, we both love trail mix! When our nuts and dried fruit options start to dwindle in our cabinet, we know that it is time to resupply, and we always include it in our packing list for every one of our trips. A few of our favorite trail mix recipes are:
Mom’s Secret Stash Trail Mix Recipe: Sprouted Nuts, Sprouted Seeds, Hu Chocolate Hunks, Dried Goldenberries.
Kids Favorite Fuel Trail Mix: Sprouted Almonds, Organic Raisins, Gluten Free Pretzel Sticks, and if we are expending a lot of energy camping or in the woods we add in some mini chocolate pieces. (the pretzels can loose their crunch so you might want to add them just before the kids dive in.)
Dad’s Gone Fishing… Hunting.. or somewhere Trail Mix: Sprouted Cashews, Pistachios, Organic Raisins and Organic Mango.
With a Glass of Wine… or Kombucha Trail Mix: Sprouted Cashews that have been tossed with chopped fresh rosemary, a bit of coconut sugar, a nice amount of salt and a drizzle of coconut oil. Toss this combo with the sprouted cashews and roast in a low heat oven until set.
Pretend I am on a Tropical Beach Trail Mix: Dried Unsweetened Banana or Plantain Chips, Dried Mango, Dried Coconut, and Sprouted Nuts.
Minnesota Berry Picking Trail Mix: Any Dried Berries that I can find that have not been sweetened with sugar or dipped in any type of oil… so that is usually dried blueberries, dried cranberries, dried mulberries, and any sprouted nuts and seeds that you have on hand.
There are an endless number of trail mix recipes so have fun mixing, matching and naming yours, and if you try any of our mixes, I hope you enjoy!
