One of my favorite teas ever is Tulsi Holy Basil tea and I was so excited to see it included in Well Being Journal’s 2020 fall issue’s article on Natural Remedies for Boosting Immunity. My personal experience is that I feel a warm, peaceful sense of calm when I enjoy a cup of Tulsi Tea. This is not a tired feeling. It is a clear and alert feeling even though my body is serene. Needless to say, I enjoy this tea often, but I was fascinated to find out that it has numerous benefits, beyond bringing me peace.

According to the Well Being Journal, “It promotes mental and emotional clarity as well as creativity.” They mention that it is also beneficial to our immune system and our nervous system. It contains antioxidants and has been studied for its “anti-stress effects.” In a time when stress and immunity are at the top of so many minds, Tulsi Basil might be just what more of need.

As I dove deeper on Tulsi, I found that it has been used in traditional cultures for thousands of years. It has been referred to as a “sacred plant” and people have used Tulsi to help relieve acne, asthma, inflammation, respiratory issues, lower your chances of heart diseases, and artheroscloersis. It includes numerous vitamins and minerals including vitamin C, magnesium, zinc, calcium and more. It is an adaptogen that can help with stress and anxiety. It is loaded with antioxidants, which help eliminate toxins from the body. It can promote healthy blood sugar levels, cholesterol levels, sleep, cognitive function, and blood pressure.

Little did I know I was sipping on such a powerhouse! I love the Tulsi Tea from the brand Organic India. I often drink it on its own, but if I have time to dress it up, I add a splash of coconut milk, a bit of honey and a scoop of collagen for a cup of delicious!
