Last week I read one of the most hands on, practical books by Dr. Axe. His book “Ancient Remedies” is a brilliant compilation of over 70 protocols for health concerns. He explains TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), including identifying your element and how it matters to your approach to your health. He takes you through a “tour” of his tools including things like herbs, oils, food, spices, mushrooms, and more. He lists over 70 health conditions and gives his “guide to healing with ancient remedies” for each condition. These guides include his ancient perspective on the condition, foods that harm and heal, ancient prescriptions, other remedies and essential oils that can be used. I found these guides extremely helpful. They enlightened me on other things that I could be doing or using for conditions in my and my family’s lives. I have a tendency to jump right to using food as my main medicine, then looking at stress and sleep, which are all helpful, but with Dr. Axe’s guide, I found other tools to consider that moved the needle in the direction that I was seeking.
I highly recommend Dr. Axe’s book if you are looking to further your knowledge on how to address certain conditions or if you just want to be prepared in the case that one of these things arises in your life. The book is easy to read, interesting to absorb, and helpful in my everyday life.
